Frank F.

Graduate from Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School/Current student in Math, University of Waterloo

I highly recommend Mr. Tai as a math tutor. Over the past three years, he has guided me through the Alberta high school math curriculum, AP Calculus topics, and preparation for math competitions such as the Euclid and CSMC. His weekly practice assignments helped me build a strong foundation and deepen my understanding of mathematical concepts. Mr. Tai is a patient, knowledgeable, and flexible teacher who is always willing to provide support whenever I have questions. I am truly grateful to have had him as my tutor, and he has played an important role in preparing me to study mathematics at the university level.

Ziheng Li

Graduate from Centennial High School AP/Current student in Engineering , University of Alberta

I’ve worked with Mr. Chen throughout all three years of high school, and his support has been instrumental in my academic journey. My success in all classes are something I couldn’t have done without Mr. Chen’s focused preparation and in-depth teaching. His help extended beyond just coursework; His dedication allowed  me to be accepted into my top-choice program. Mr. Chen is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also patient, encouraging, and truly invested in his students’ success. I’m deeply grateful for the impact he had on my education.

Dominic Cui

Graduate from Western Canada High School IB/Executive of Biology Club/Gold Award in CBO 2025/Gold Award in BBO 2025/Received offers in Biology and Life Science from UT, UBC, McGill, McMaster with scholarship

Mr. Chen has played a crucial role in my success throughout high school science. Over three years, he’s helped me deepen my understanding of biology, chemistry, and physics with passion, clarity, and genuine care for his students’ learning.

Biology, which I mainly studied with Mr. Chen, was initially intimidating. I came in with limited knowledge, but his patient and adaptive teaching made even complex topics accessible. His ability to tailor lessons to my learning style and explain difficult concepts clearly helped me excel in national  biology competitions and fostered my passion for the subject.

Beyond biology, his chemistry and physics classes strengthened my overall grasp of science and reinforced key biological concepts.

I’m deeply grateful for Mr. Chen’s guidance and dedication. His teaching has been instrumental in my academic journey and personal development as a science student—truly living up to his motto: Maximizing Students’ Potential.

Daniel Jiang

Graduate from Western Canada High School 2025/No.1 of Alberta in Avogadro Contest 2023/No.1 of Canada in Chem 13 2024/Received offers in Biology and Health Science from UT, UBC, McGill, McMaster, Waterloo, UC with Scholarship 2025

Words cannot express how much Mr. Chen has played a part in my success as a chemistry student. He is not just incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about all sciences, but most importantly patient and empathetic. What truly sets him apart is the genuine care he has for his students’ success.

I still remember that first chemistry lecture in grade 10 when preparing for the Avogadro Exam. The way he taught even the most difficult concepts made it easy to understand; from the very beginning, Mr. Chen took the time to understand my learning style and all the practice problems he gave me were helpful to my understanding. Through his teachings, I was able to achieve success at even national-level chemistry competitions, and he plays an important role in my passion for chemistry to this very day.

Beyond chemistry, Mr. Chen’s physics and biology lessons have further solidified my passion for science as a whole. Whether it was summer Physics 20 lectures or studying Biology 30, my success can attest to his strength in teaching all subjects of science. Truly, maximizing students’ potential.

All in all, I am truly grateful for Mr. Chen, and I could not have imagined asking for a better teacher. Those three years with him felt merely like weeks, but I’m sure the amount of effort he put into me and all of his students makes the learning journey with him last a lifetime.

Ivy Deng

Current student in University of Waterloo /Former student in Western Canada High School

Physics and chemistry were never my best subject and it was always hard for me to fully understand and keep up during class. In fact, in grade 11 I ended up switching from full IB to partial all because of physics. During that summer, I decided to take classes from Mr. Chen. From the start, he was a very kind, understanding, and flexible teacher. He was able to tailor each lesson to match with what we were doing in school, and the way he explained the content was really straightforward and easy to understand. If I had any questions, he was able to answer them in many different ways so that in the end, I could understand. In grade 12, I saw a dramatic increase in both my chemistry and physics marks thanks to Mr. Chen. Overall, I would 100% recommend taking lessons if you are struggling, or even if you just want to stay ahead of your coursework.

Harry Zhu

Current Student of Double Major in Computer Science and Statistics, University of Waterloo

I moved to Canada when I was in Gr.9. I was very interested in Math contest and luckily met Mr. Tai. With his guidance, my math marks and logic thinking skills dramatically improved and received awards in various Math contest. I even entered Honor Roll in Euclid and CSMC. All of my IB Math courses scores are 100 from Gr.10-12. I think I can never be admitted to the University of Waterloo without the help of Mr. Tai. I am not the best student in Math, but Mr. Tai was patient to guide me to think and find the right answers. The weekly class helped me to build up my confidence and the problem solving skills. I really appreciate Mr. Tai’s teaching method: instead of importing knowledge and concepts to students, he combined sample questions and theories to help students to learn the skills themselves, and be able to apply this skills in contest. I am still benefiting from his math class until now in University. Mr. Tai is definitely an amazing teacher!

Current student in University of Calgary/ Former student in Access Academy

I was lucky to have meet Teacher Chen when I was in 11th to 12th grade of high school. I struggled with Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, but with Teacher Chen’s professional knowledge and patient encouragement, I gained confidence in my studies and was successfully admitted to university. I am lucky to have such a teacher, thank you very much🙏

May Liu

Current student in University of Calgary /Former student from St. Francis High School

Mr. Chen has been of phenomenal help in raising my grades throughout high school. Coming in with a 92% in math 30, I ended up with a 97% at the end of the semester thanks to his teaching. He taught in a clear and concise manner, re-emphasizing any concepts I did not fully understand. When he finished teaching everything for the day and we had some time left, he would either expose me to new topics or do practice tests depending on how prepared I felt for the unit exam. He even included witty comments throughout the lessons and has a great sense of humour. It was a 10/10 experience and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a tutor!
